Sunset over Mt Baldy

I spent last Summer at a fiend house in Running Springs, CA. For several days the narrow two lane road up the mountain, the 330, was under construction and traffic would run one way at a time stopped for repair for several days. On this day going home up the hill I was stopped exactly at the bend in the road where I could look west though the pass to watch the sun slip behind My Baldy. I grabbed my plein air kit, propped up a pice of gessoed paper on the steering wheel and and painted as fast as i could. I didn't want to pour out any liquids because I might have to start driving any second - so I used a bit of cold wax medium.
