I've painted from this spot a dozen times in the last twenty years, and finally decided to paint it larger. This is a 36"x48". I painted it pretty quickly because I've painted it plein air so many times. I like the marsh grass best when it's gold rather than green because it provides another color other than green to paint. I went through my photos and found six that I liked of this location at the same time of day, and used the best elements of each. I usually have to paint standing farther to the right to stay out of bike traffic, but working from a photo allowed me to paint the creek head on from the bicycle bridge. I like being able to see egrets in the distance, and watching the tide come in or out as I paint.
