Marsh Marigolds

In exploring plein air subjects near my home, I found a boggy area near an overgrown trail which looks unappealing most times of the year. It clearly floods and retains debris and is untended. I discovered that during a brief period in the spring it is overtaken by yellow blooms set against the emerging spring greens. The flower is a marsh marigold, I learned. I was there painting alone and having a ball. A fallen log and a stump were instantly attractive as well.
