The 1932 Studebaker is a symbolic marker in The Petrified Forest National Park. Established in 1926, Rt66 was known as the "Main street of America" and stood as a symbol of opportunity, adventure, and exploration to travelers" (NP website). I was fascinated by the vast openness of the landscape, the energy of the light, its effect on form and color, which inspired me to create this painting.
